UNITED NATIONS SESSION TO END / ADDRESS GLOBAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The battle in Atlanta for Super Bowl has now ended with the New England Patriots taking the trophy. While the two teams were battling inside the Mercedes Benz stadium, there was even a bigger battle outside the stadium involving the entire NFL, Delta Airlines, United Nations, and a host of other organizations.

This battle is the global fight to end Human Trafficking. The impact of Human trafficking is globally destroying the lives of young men and women worldwide. In Atlanta, a woman that has literally dedicated her entire life to ending the problems of Human Trafficking would be taking the battle to the World stage as she addresses the United Nations in New York. This fighter is Dr. Queen Blessing Itua and has singularly led several efforts in Africa, Europe, and America in fighting the battle of Human Trafficking.

On 21 February 2019, Dr. Queen Blessing’s Organization Global Empowerment Movement (GEM) Corporation will make a presentation at the United Nations 57th Session of the Commission for Social Development, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Global Empowerment Movement (GEM) Corporation is accredited to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Commission for Social Development is the advisory body responsible for the United Nations social development pillar of global development. The Theme: Women & Youths Economic and Equality Empowerment – The keys to Curbing Human Trafficking, Eradicating Poverty, and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This event will address the effect of economic & gender inequlaity on human trafficking and poverty – the common root of human trafficking, women victimization, and explore ways we can strengthen empowerment through economic, education, political, fiscal, social inclusion, social protection policies, etc.

Dr. Queen Blessing Itua will Chair and Moderate the event which will be in will be in two segments – a short reading of excerpts from her book: “We Are the Blessings of Africa, Reshaping Our Greatness” and lead a panel discussion which will address a wide array of empowerment initiatives including addressing gender inequality removal for equitable society and strengthening women’s rights.

Strengthening women and youth empowerment to be agents of change is the prerequisite for poverty eradication and the achievement of all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
